Ok, so you have things lying around and that you want to get rid of ...post it on Craigslist! Let me give you some tips. This should be how everyone in the Craigslist world creates an add. The quality of some ads cease to amaze me, and it makes me wonder if these people actually want to sell the item. So, I lets get on with the tips:
Tip 1: Clean the item that you wish to sell. Make it at least APPEAR to be in good shape.
Tip 2: Clean the general area of the item you wish to sell. There is NOTHING worse than looking at a chair or desk, and the floor surrounding the chair or desk looks filthy or that a F4 tornado passed through your house. Nobody will want to put said item into theirs!
Tip 3: Include a good, CLEAR picture in your ad. You can describe your precious item until you're blue in the face, but it will never be enough. Every one will want to see a picture of it. They will want to make sure that before they go any further with investing their time or money..they will want to see the item before they travel to get it! The saying does hold true "A picture tells a thousand words".
Tip 4: Set a realistic price. C'mon people...OK, so it was worth ten times that much 2 years ago..but guess what? Not anymore. Do yourself a favor..Google how much similar item is going for now, and reduce that price to that of one in USED condition....and make it a fair price. I love seeing things that sell for more than you can purchase brand new at Target or Walmart...NOT!
Tip 5: Give as much detail about the item, and the condition so there are no surprises to be had. If "almost new" really means "almost new, if you don't sit on it", then by all means, be truthful. It'll save you face, and the every one's time.
Tip 6: Answer the replies! Hey ..guess what? Someone wants your junk..do them a favor, let them buy it! I hate replying to an add, and it takes three days to get a reply, then you reply because they inevitably never give enough details about the item. ..until you lose complete interest and give up.
And last but not least....
Tip 7: DELETE SOLD ITEMS!!!! My biggest pet peeve on craigslist ever! This tip is self explanatory.
